On 15 February 2021, ACDR organized an event to introduce ACDR and deliver training about ADR to 150 participants from business community, investors, industrialists, women entrepreneurs, craftsmen, defense lawyers and university teachers at Herat province.
At the beginning, Mr. Tawakol Khuram, ACDR Executive Director provided detailed information regarding the services of ACDR and added “ACDR is the only entity in Afghanistan which is providing ADR services mainly arbitration and mediation to the private sector. As per interest of participants in the event, ACDR is considering to organize regional based events in order to transform the arbitration as a major system for resolving commercial disputes.
Following on, Dr. Abdul Vahid Afzali, university teacher and ACDR arbitrator, based on the request of private sector provided information on the topic of “Legal Analysis of Islam Qala Port Fire Accident and Government’s Legal Liability for Affected Traders”. Next Mr. Ismail Shahid, university teacher and ACDR arbitrator delivered presentation on beginning and other process of arbitration. After the lunch, Mr. Afzali presented the audience about interference of courts in arbitration process and its terms. The event was ended with the Q&A session.
